How are the colors chosen?

The GLSLShader groups similar pixel colors into a specified number of buckets and estimates how much of the image each bucket represents. It then renders swatches for the top buckets, ordered and sized according to your selected mode (equal or dominance-weighted).

Equal vs weighted widths: which should I use?

Use Equal when you want a balanced, presentation-friendly palette where each color gets the same visual weight. Use Weighted to reflect the image’s true color proportions—this is helpful for analysis, grading references, and dataset QA.

How many colors should I pick?

For branding and UI, 5–8 colors usually give a clean, usable set. For complex scenes or analysis, 10–16 can capture more nuance. Too many colors may introduce near-duplicates; if that happens, lower the count or crop the image to the most relevant region.

Why do I see unexpected colors or noisy results?

Highly compressed, noisy, or patterned images can introduce tiny color fragments. Try using a higher-quality source, cropping busy areas, or reducing the number of colors. Switching to Weighted mode can also minimize the impact of small, insignificant colors.

Can I control the output size and file naming?

Yes. Set exact dimensions in ResolutionSelector to control the palette’s resolution, and configure SaveImageAdvanced for the output directory and filename pattern.
